Groovy TunesLevel 6 1/2 - Historical Facts
After the band had committed to playing all originals(and a few rearrangements) as Khazad Doom, they found themselves leaning toward classically-based material, probably because Tom and Al, and to a lesser extent, Jack, had classical training in their backgrounds. At this point they mirrored the Beatles, but also the Doors, Procol Harum, King Crimson, Pink Floyd and Iron Butterfly.

In 1969-70, several years after CHERRY TOWN, they put together a group of songs and drove south to Gary, Indiana, where they recorded the LEVEL 6 1/2 album over a long weekend. That album was meant to be a small private release to sell at performances, but partly because of the limited production quantity (180) and partly because of its progressive nature, LEVEL 6 1/2 remains, 28 years later, the basis for the band's cult status, particularly among collectors in Europe. If you're interested in finding other KD enthusiasts eager to trade LEVEL 6 1/2, stop by the Level 6 1/2 Trading Post in the Vault and indicate your intentions on the bulletin board.
